"Confessions of a Music School Drop-Out" was originally published in the November 1993 issue of Kansas Music Review. (See Page 7) In this one-page article, I recount my painful alienation from music-making--and my joyful reconnection under the wise and warm guidance of William Westney.

In October of 2006, I had the pleasure of interviewing pianist and Steinway Artist Yefim Bronfman. The interview was published in American Music Teacher, the official publication of Music Teachers National Association.

I recently reviewed 50 Piano Classics, Volume 1, Composers A-G: 100 of the World's Most-Beloved Masterpieces in Two Volumes; and 50 Piano Classics, Volume 2, Composers H-Z, a new, 2-volume anthology of piano music for American Music Teacher. It's a delightful collection--highly recommended!

From September 2007 through June 2011, I served as Newsletter Editor for Kansas City Music Teachers Association (KCMTA). The newsletters are available in the KCMTA Newsletter archive. This monthly newsletter features not only news of interest to members, but also articles on a wide range of topics of interest to anyone who loves music in general and pianos in particular. During my tenure as editor, I also included a YouTube corner and a Quote of the Month.

"Julia Scherer: Passion for Pianos and People" appeared on page 13 of the Winter 2008 issue of The Triangle, the journal of Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity. This feature article profiled me as an example of a trained musician who successfully transfered those skills into a business setting.
